Problems That an Impacted Wisdom Tooth Cause

Tooth Cause

Wisdom teeth are the last set to erupt among a person’s permanent teeth. An adult usually has four wisdom teeth, two in the upper and two in the lower jaw. But in some people, only two or three wisdom teeth form in the gum then grow.

In rare cases, the wisdom teeth do not form at all in the person’s jaw. Wisdom teeth are the last that usually begin to grow in adolescence and therefore get the name “wisdom.”

In case the wisdom teeth do not have enough space, the dentists advise to perform a wisdom tooth removal treatment, since they cause other teeth deformation and decay.

You Shouldn’t Extract Your Wisdom Teeth for No Reason

Wisdom teeth should not be extracted unless it causes problems and discomfort.

If your wisdom teeth are involved in specific oral and dental problems, you should go to the dentist to have them extracted in time because it leads to severe dental cases. Adults typically have thirty-two permanent teeth. Four wisdom teeth grow last at the end of each jaw arch. During the jawbone growth and development, there should be some space for the wisdom teeth. Wisdom teeth, if they develop properly, are as useful as any other tooth in the digestive system, and should not be extracted.

The Best Age for Wisdom Tooth Surgery

Dentists believe that the best age for wisdom tooth surgery is under twenty because it has fewer complications and pain. Wisdom teeth erupt at the age of 16 to 21. Sometimes, in the body growth process, the jawbones shrink, and, as a result, wisdom teeth cannot grow in their proper way.

In many cases, these teeth are problematic and require a surgical procedure. In case the wisdom tooth decays, all other tissues around it get infected too. Wisdom tooth extraction can be performed successfully for patients of all ages and does not have specific age limitations. However, from a statistical point of view, older people are at greater risk for complications.

Impacted Wisdom Tooth and Its Problems

An impacted wisdom tooth is the one that has formed inside the gum tissue and can’t grow in the proper alignment of other teeth. Such wisdom teeth may be stuck in soft or hard tissue of the gum or the jawbone. Impacted wisdom teeth can result in inflammation of the soft tissue surrounding the teeth, wisdom tooth decay, and the risk of damage to adjacent teeth.

Extracting Wisdom Teeth in Older Ages

As you get older, the roots become thicker and may make it harder to pull your teeth out. The healing procedure after a wisdom tooth extraction is usually slower in the older ages. Other teeth may also get infected after a wisdom tooth extraction.

When a Wisdom Tooth Can’t Grow Easily!?

Sometimes, your wisdom teeth are opposite to the jawbone and move forward instead of rising vertically. In this situation, the tooth’s root is under pressure and may decay over time. If you do not seek treatment in its right time, you may even lose your tooth after a while.
